Fijian Cinematographer Lanza Coffin Makes History with Emmy Award Nomination

Film Fiji was honoured to attend the special screening of two thought-provoking short films, Vakadua and An Unofficial Colonial History of the Feejee Islands AKA VITI, held at the University of the South Pacific’s Oceania Arts Centre.
The evening was a celebration of Fijian storytelling, creativity, and collaboration, bringing together filmmakers, industry professionals, and audiences to experience stories that reflect the richness and diversity of Fiji’s cultural identity.
Vakadua is a UK-Fiji collaborative production by Young Productions, Video Factory, and Ajay Chhabra, highlighting the value of international partnerships in creating meaningful and authentic stories. Alongside it, An Unofficial Colonial History of the Feejee Islands AKA VITI offered audiences a powerful and thought-provoking perspective on Fiji’s history, identity, and lived experiences.
The screening showcased the exceptional talent within Fiji’s growing screen industry, from writers and directors to actors and crew members, whose passion and dedication continue to elevate local filmmaking to new heights.
