“As an emerging Fijian filmmaker, the Fiji Producers Accelerator Program and Fiji Script Development Program hosted by Film Fiji and funded by the SPC / ACP-EU Creative Industries Grant that I attended and completed in 2023/2024 were hugely beneficial for me. Not only was I able to learn new producer skills and hone my script writing abilities, but the programs also helped to give me the confidence and the boost I needed to start making films of my own. In 2024, I completed two short films and in 2025 am starting to enter them into the international film festival circuit. I have already received official selections to two film festivals including the Academy Award-qualifying Doc Edge Festival. I hope that more development opportunities come up in the future to help Fijian filmmakers upskill and equip us to tell stories from our own unique perspective.”
