Adi Tulia Nacola is a woodworker, writer and filmmaker from Ra, Fiji. Before embarking one her writing career, Tulia ran her successful woodworking business for fifteen years, focusing on using recycled timbers and sourcing materials from tree planting millers com to bring her unique designs to life.

Based in the capital of Suva, she has now written and published two creative non-fiction novels and one fiction novel, stories which portray the life style of Fiji now and what was.

Tulia is a big advocate for storytelling especially in the traditional setting believing that knowledge is passed down from elders to the younger generation through stories.

After completing the Script Development Course and Producers Accelerator Course in 2023-2024 run by Film Fiji & Media Mentors Australia through the SPC facilitated ACP-EU Grant, Ms Nacola has embarked on a scriptwriting and film making journey to bring her stories and stories told to her by her elders to the screen.

She has written, produced and directed her first short film, Bubu Belo, a 25 minute drama spoken in the iTaukei language with English subtitles.

She hopes to inspire more pacific women to step up to the stage and tell their stories, whether it be in the spoken word, the written language or through visual art.

Her plans for 2025 through to 2026  is to produce two iTaukei short films which are based on her family history, ‘Oi Dua’ a 45 minute drama centred around chiefly siblings and the value of returning home to seek forgiveness. ‘Vunivalu- The Lineage is precolonial contact in Fiji, a drama 45 minute film and the narrative follows two brothers in chiefdom and the overthrow of power.

She is also working on her fourth novel ‘Tabua Tamata’, a cultural story about her people and how two chiefly homes from different lands met and created a new family line. Tabua Tamata is set for launch in June 2026.
